Our Library's 150 Year History - A Historical Review with Phil Aleo

Wednesday, April 22, 2026 (6:00 PM - 8:00 PM) (CDT)

Description

This slide presentation details the history and development of the Dundee Township Library, which is today the Fox River Valley Public Library District. Going back to its roots, which began decades before its institution in 1876, this presentation will be both entertaining and educational. How did alcohol have a major influence on our Library? What impact did the Chicago Fire of 1871 have on the Library? What language were our first books written in? Where was our library located in the 1800s? These topics and much more will be discussed in this one-hour slide presentation by our local historian, Phil Aleo.
