Open Mic & Poetry Slam - Literacy Connection Poetry Festival

Join The Literacy Connection for our first-ever Poetry and Literacy Festival! This daylong event in Elgin, IL will feature workshop learning and guest speakers, as well as an open mic and Poetry Slam. All are invited to be a part of this celebration of National Poetry Month while raising important funds for our adult literacy work in the community. 

The festival will close with an open mic and a judged Poetry Slam event. This event will feature prizes, raffles, and more. Participants and audience members alike are invited to attend this culminating celebration of literacy and poetry. 

Festival Schedule: 10:00 AM - Poetry Workshop led by Chasity Gunn (at Elgin Community College) 

2:00 PM - Guest Speaker Diego Báez (at Elgin Community College) 

7:00 PM - Open Mic & Poetry Slam (at Elgin Art Showcase) 

Tickets on sale now! Purchase a day pass for a discount on all three events. The first 50 people to purchase day passes will receive tote bags stuffed with goodies. Student rate tickets available.
